Why I Started Lauren’s Ledger

Starting my own business wasn’t always part of the plan. Like many people, I followed the traditional career path after university, climbing the ladder in finance roles, gaining my CIMA qualification, and building years of experience in FP&A and management reporting. I enjoyed many aspects of my work - especially helping businesses make sense of their numbers - but there was always a small voice inside me asking, “Is this it?”

I knew I wanted something more flexible, more personal, and ultimately more meaningful. That’s how Lauren’s Ledger Accounting was born: out of a desire to combine my financial expertise with a life that felt freer, more aligned with my values, and more rewarding - not just for me, but for the people I work with too.

My Experience So Far

Setting up Lauren’s Ledger has been both exciting and challenging. On the technical side, I had the qualifications and experience in financial management, bookkeeping, and reporting - but starting your own practice is a different kind of learning curve. It’s about building trust, creating processes, finding your voice, and getting comfortable being visible as a business owner.

I’ve spent months refining my service packages, creating helpful resources, designing templates, and ensuring that every part of my client experience feels welcoming, wise, and non-judgmental. Because that’s what I want Lauren’s Ledger to be known for - a friendly face in what can sometimes feel like a daunting and complicated world of numbers.

So far, I’ve worked on designing onboarding processes, setting up my website, building financial models, and crafting a client dashboard that not only tracks results but tells the story behind the numbers. Every step is geared toward making finance feel easier for the business owners I work with.

What I Want Lauren’s Ledger to Be

Lauren’s Ledger isn’t just an accounting business - it’s a partnership. My goal is to give entrepreneurs clarity and peace of mind about their finances, so they can grow their businesses with confidence.

I want to create an environment where clients feel empowered, not judged. Where financial reports aren’t just documents you file away but tools you can use to make smart, exciting decisions about your future.

Whether it’s helping a sole trader understand their cash flow, supporting a growing ecommerce brand with their VAT returns, or working alongside a creative entrepreneur to build a financial plan for scaling - Lauren’s Ledger is here to provide advice that’s not just technical, but human.

Ultimately, I want every client to feel like they have someone in their corner who genuinely cares about their success.

Why I’m Passionate About Helping Business Owners

Running a small business can feel overwhelming. I know because I’m living it too. There’s a lot of pressure to “have it all figured out,” especially when it comes to money. I’ve seen how a lack of financial clarity can stop a brilliant business from reaching its potential - and how empowering it can be when someone finally feels in control.

That’s why I’m here: to demystify finance for business owners, so they can spend less time stressing over spreadsheets and more time doing what they love.

I’m especially passionate about helping women and creative entrepreneurs - people who often start with a great idea but are held back by the “business side” feeling too complicated or intimidating. I believe finance doesn’t have to be scary. It can be a superpower.

The Life I’m Building Alongside My Business

Another big reason I started Lauren’s Ledger? Freedom.

I dream of having the flexibility to travel more, to explore new places while still supporting my clients remotely. I want the kind of business that fits around my life - not the other way around.

For me, that means being able to take my laptop to a quiet coffee shop, a sunny beach, or a charming European town, and still be there for my clients when they need me. It means long walks by rivers or through forests on a weekday afternoon, taking in the world rather than always rushing through it. It means building a business that grows steadily and sustainably, allowing me to live a full, rich life both inside and outside of work.

I don’t want endless hustle. I want freedom - and I want that for my clients too.

My mission is simple: to make finance feel friendly, empowering, and truly helpful. To be the person you can turn to when you need a clear picture of where you are, and a trusted guide for where you want to go.
